We’re pleased to let you know that a new feature in the NHS Wales App went live on 31st October 2025 to support patients awaiting secondary care (hospital) outpatient appointments.
This feature enables patients to view hospital referrals (once accepted) and first outpatient appointments booked from that date onwards. It gives patients improved visibility over their secondary care journey, helping reduce confusion and the need for contact with your GP.
New features in the NHS Wales App, patients can:
• See when they’ve been added to a hospital waiting list
• View upcoming hospital appointment details
• Access links to typical waiting times and advice on staying well while they wait
• Find contact information for their local health board if they wish to request a change or cancellation
Important information:
Patients cannot change or cancel appointments directly in the App—they are signposted to the appropriate Health Board contact team instead.
This information is for:
Patients who:
• Are registered with a Welsh GP and use the NHS Wales App
• Have a referral or first outpatient appointment recorded in an NHS Wales secondary care (hospital) system
-> Referrals made entirely within English NHS systems will not appear in the App.
